dragging its feet

the more the stones thrown
the more we bleed
the stones stop
the blood pour doesn’t
the ringing stops
the voices don’t
people turn away
we stay stuck where we were
we try to move
we can’t
the voices tied us
in between the cracks
the cracks are confining
choking, defining
the hollow crowd
is all there is
will there be a will
will there be me
will there be a new day tomorrow
or yesterday will come back
dragging its own feet
